This course combines international product innovation with certified training delivery, tailored to meet the growing demands of trenchless rehabilitation and pipe repair professionals across Australia.

Course Overview

The Trelleborg DrainPacker Product Training course is designed to give plumbers, contractors, councils and asset managers the knowledge and practical skills needed to confidently install Trelleborg’s DrainPacker system. This 4-hour course covers everything from understanding product standards and safety requirements to hands-on installation and compliance with WSAA and international approvals. Participants will gain certification co-branded by SECA, Trelleborg, and Asset Training (RTO 91255), ensuring their work meets the highest quality and warranty standards.

Course Objectives

Participants will:

• Understand the DrainPacker system and its applications.
• Learn how to evaluate pipe damage and select suitable repair techniques.
• Gain hands-on experience in preparing and installing the DrainPacker system.
• Understand the quality and compliance standards including WSAA and DIBt approvals.
• Learn safety, documentation, and quality control procedures for successful installations.

Module 1: Introduction to Trelleborg and Pipe Repair Technologies

• Overview of Trelleborg Group and Seals & Profiles division
• Introduction to trenchless technologies and spot repair systems
• Types of pipe damage suitable for repair

Module 2: Understanding the DrainPacker System

• Key features and benefits of the DrainPacker
• Pipe compatibility and size range (DN 35 to DN 1200)
• Chemical and structural performance (including 100-year design life and creep behaviour

Module 3: Technical Standards & Approvals

• Australian approvals (WSAA, Sydney Water)
• International standards (DIBt, DIN, ISO, ASTM)
• Structural calculations and thickness determination

Module 4: Job Preparation and Site Safety

• Equipment checklist and site readiness
• Safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Confirming defect location and flow control

Module 5: Pipe & Packer Preparation

• CCTV inspection and pipe cleaning procedures
• Types of packers and their setup
• Preparing fiberglass mat and resin mixing (Type S/W & A Accelerator)

Module 6: Installation Process

• Step-by-step walkthrough of DrainPacker installation
• Folding techniques and use of additional glass layers
• Pot life, curing times, and packer removal

Module 7: Final Inspection & Documentation

• Before/after inspection and leak testing
• Completion of installation report, material logs, and batch tracking
• Introduction to Trelleborg SiteGuide app for calculations

Module 8: Hands-On Practical

• Live demonstration of DrainPacker setup and installation
• Practice with mixing, wrapping, placement, curing and removal
• Simulated defect repair on training rig or test pipe

Assessment

• Quiz on key principles and safety

Certification

Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion accredited by SECA, Asset Training (RTO 91255) and Trelleborg.
